Message from our founder:
Welcome. My name is Jackson Schneider, founder of tech towel and author of these features until we find someone who would like to take over. I am excited to announce the launch of a long time vision of mine. Below is brief history as well as my outlook for the future of Tech Towel.
In April 2019 I attended my first music festival, Coachella. I was mesmerized by the energy of it all. I bought the ticket to see rappers but ended up missing most of their sets due to losing track of time in a little art installation playing trippy and repetitive beats. This was my first experience with the DoLab and more importantly house related EDM. I had never been in a crowd whose sole purpose was to vibe and dance for hours on end. The energy was overwhelming positive. I now know that the EDM festival community is one of the best in the world and other genres just don’t hit the same for me. Since then, been to countless concerts and festivals and have had some of my best memories
The thing that initially stuck out to me was the oversized shawls everyone was wearing at these concerts. The sizes and colors varied but the function was always the same.

The “pashmina” is the distinctive accessory in our community and offers the wearer shade from the heat of day, warmth when walking between sets, privacy when the pupils get large and can give an outfit and super dynamic range. Whether you like them or think they are corny you cant deny that they are one of the best fashion accessories ever adopted by a group.
When looking for a pashmina after I got back from that Coachella I had a hard time finding something I meshed with. I didn’t like the super trippy neon ones on rave websites and wanted something higher quality than the polyester variants on Amazon. I thought how cool would it be if there was a high quality pash brand with designs I would want to wear. This idea stuck in my head all through my time at university until I just recently became inspired to build it.
This past year I have been experimenting with different fabric blends, ways of printing and even learned how to sew in order to create something I would be stoked to wear at a concert. After much trial and error as well as feedback from the homies, I think we nailed what I sought out to create back in 2019.
2) Engineered for festival goers, by festival goers
“Tech Towel is a passion project rooted in the belief that festival goers should have a brand that represents and understands their community. “
My goal with this project is to learn how to build something from the ground up as well as give a net positive to the community that I am passionate about. My dream is that tech towels morph into their own thing apart from pashminas and become synonymous with that feeling I had in the DoLab all those years ago and all the years since. I want tech towel wearers to be positive additions to the dance floor, being that person next to you that will offer you a piece of gum, smile at you in passing on your walk between sets or cary naloxone for the sole purpose of helping a stranger in an emergency. There is already a sense of these traits in our community, I just want to put a symbol on them.
We hope that a Tech Towel enhances your experience at concerts by keeping you comfortable and looking good so you can focus on what’s most important, the music and connecting with those around you.
Thank you for your time and stay tuned for upcoming collaborations and events. Cheers!
